How Bentavo works

Bentavo lists mobile apps and tells you, before you install, how each one charges: free, pay once, free with a one-time unlock, or subscription.

Where the apps come from

We read the public App Store top charts for every category, plus apps their makers submit, and the in-app purchase list on each app's store page. An app counts as a subscription when its in-app purchases or description show recurring billing. This is automatic, so it can be wrong.

How lists are ordered

Category lists follow the App Store chart position (top free and top paid), then the number of ratings. Apps marked Featured are placed above the ranking. They are paid placements, apps made by DoubleHash (the team behind Bentavo), or highly rated no-subscription apps picked by us — the home page Featured row rotates every hour, and paid placements always come first. Featured never changes an app's position inside the ranking.
